How Does AlterG® work?
You’ll step into a pair of AlterG® shorts worn over your workout shorts or leggings. Then, you step inside the machine’s chamber, similar to a giant bubble. We then zip the AlterG® shorts to the chamber. Once you’re comfortable, we’ll calibrate the device to your individual needs and adjust the air pressure to support a selected percentage of your body weight. This creates a fall-safe environment which means you can now move with confidence as never before.
Ultimately, the experience is just like any treadmill—except for the unweighted part. That’s the benefit of AlterG® over alternatives like hydrotherapy or harness systems. AlterG® allows you to walk, run, and even perform exercises, helping you recover, maintain, and enhance your balance, strength, and mobility.
Because the sides of the AlterG® chamber are clear, we’re able to observe and monitor your mechanics. We maintain a clear view of your mobility via an HD camera mounted in the chamber. Meanwhile, AlterG® also provides real-time gait data. This immediate visual feedback helps you improve your experience and results.
