We are going to use this tennis ball to work on a function of the eyes called smooth pursuit. This is a very important function whenever someone’s involved with sports or with reading in school.
And so to accomplish this, we have the tennis ball going back and forth, and I’m just asking him to track just with his eyes as the tennis ball goes side-to-side.
So we start off simply solid ground watching the tennis ball. We can vary his base of support by putting him on foam. We can make him stand heel to toe. We can make the ball go in a clockwise or a clown counter clockwise circle.
First of all, to help the eyes function in smooth pursuit. And then second of all, to see if this causes symptoms. Because again, if this is causing symptoms, we need to work on this skill so that someone could do this successfully and it will help them to return to sports and it’ll help them return to school successfully without symptoms.
